About The Association

EUCU.NET was initiated by its founding members as an independent membership organisation in 2010, after receiving funding and support from the European Union under FP7 (2008-2010). Since then, EUCU.NET has become a vibrant incubator for innovation at the intersection of formal and non-formal education. In this context, EUCU.NET has been linked to a number of innovation actions under H2020 and Horizon Europe.

EUCU.NET currently has 65 institutional members in 30 countries.

The main objective of EUCU.NET is to promote the idea of the mission of Children’s Universities and to make the results and impact of this innovative academic approach transparent and accountable.

The Structure

Our organization has a simple structure, which makes it possible to work without a great deal of administrative effort and without incurring large administrative costs. This is ensured to a large part by the fact that eucu.net has been supported and hosted by the Vienna University Children’s Office since its foundation.

The management of the society consists of the general assembly of all members, an executive board, auditors and an arbitral tribunal and an advisory board as well.

One of the most important tasks of the General Assembly is the approval of the budget and the election, assignment and dismissal of members of the executive board.

The executive board consists of five members: the Secretary General and the International Liaison Coordinator are first and foremost responsible for the day-to-day operational business. While the three Presidents are primarily responsible for the strategic and content development of the association, as well as being ambassadors of the children’s university idea in general. The Advisory Board consists of experts who have made a name for themselves in the field of science communication for and with children.
