At the last eucu.net meeting in Vienna in November 2023, 11. April was declared the International Day of Children’s Universities. This joint day of action will be celebrated for the first time in 2024. The day is intended to draw attention to the mission of children’s universities offering high quality STEAHM activities and to raise awareness of the need for continued efforts to make science and research accessible to all children.
The members of eucu.net want to use this day to bring children’s university programmes to attention and make them known to a broader public. Special events and regular activities – on site and online – shall provide insights into different scientific disciplines and draw attention to the different educational opportunities of young people. The day aims to open up new perspectives and explore the work of universities and other research institutions.
All organisations offering university programmes for children are invited to use this day to highlight the importance of our programmes and the challenges facing society. Activities can be offered directly on 11. April or around the day. Eucu.net will provide a special logo (not the illustration in this news article) for identification use and more information and inspiration on our website in a timely manner.
