UA Summer Academy

(Academia de Verão da UA)

Aims and goals:

The UA Summer Academy is a way of experiencing the university ambience and the science world during a period of one or two weeks. Children and teenagers between 10 and 18 years old are invited to live in the university campus (it is a residential programme)and be part of one of 16th possible thematic programms. Almost all university departments are involved, promoting the scientific part of the programme, that aims to be interactive, challenging and approach children to different scientific fields. We try to provide a full experience which comes from laboratory and experimental work but also from unexpected sources. Social interaction is also an important aim of the project, thats why we include a substantial cultural and sport programme promoted by the support team.
